The retractable hardtop of the 570 Spider is electronically operated, with the driver only needing to use one basic control function. As the retractable hardtop folds back, the tonneau cover automatically raises. The retractable hardtop then seamlessly slides underneath it. The retractable hardtop also features a glazed wind deflector, which can also be electronically lowered or closed.

McLaren designed the retractable hardtop with high-level durability in mind, with it able to withstand severe weather conditions. It also has a lightweight carbon-fiber composition, with it adding only 101 pounds in weight over the 570S Coupe. For an enhanced sound experience, the 570S Spider offers an available Sports System, which channels exhaust sounds from under the tonneau deck and into the cabin.
