What is the difference between the McLaren 720s Luxury and Performance trims?

McLaren 720S Luxury Coupe Vs. McLaren 720S Performance Coupe

The McLaren 720S is nothing less than pure supercar. It provides incredible performance both on roads (such as those one might find here in Chicago) and tracks. Originally introduced for the 2018 model year, the 720S is now offered in both Spider and hardcore LT variants alongside the standard coupe. For 2021, a lightweight, track-focused 765LT model finds its way into the lineup.

The 2021 McLaren 720S is available in three trim levels: Base, Luxury, and Performance. While the Base trim has a starting MSRP of $299,000, the Luxury and Performance trims both start at the higher price point of $311,130.

It’s rare that we see two trims of a vehicle start at the same price point. What sets the McLaren 720S Luxury and Performance models apart?

There are no differences in performance or capability between the 2021 McLaren 720S Luxury and Performance trims. Instead, the differences lie on the type of style that is emphasized on the model. As the name suggests, the Luxury trim focuses on creature comforts and upscale amenities, whereas the Performance trim focuses on race-related stylistic touches, along with numerous carbon fiber accents both inside and out.

Both the 2021 McLaren 720S Luxury and Performance trims are powered by the same engine. Both models are rear-wheel drive, seat two individuals inside, and boast the same dimensions.

Key features of the 2021 McLaren 720S Luxury Coupe include:

  • Dark Palladium exterior trim
  • Engine bay and interior ambient lighting
  • Full leather upholstery
  • Heated power-adjustable seats

Key features of the 2021 McLaren 720S Performance Coupe include:

  • Carbon fiber exterior trim
  • Engine bay and interior ambient lighting
  • Nappa leather and Alcantara upholstery

You May Wonder: Is the 2021 McLaren 720S available with a rear spoiler?
