Is McLaren Automotive partnering with Gulf Oil International?

Corporate partnerships aren’t necessarily the most interesting news stories, but every once in awhile, there’s one that can be pretty exciting. That’s certainly the case with the news coming out of the McLaren Automotive camp late last month, as they have announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Gulf Oil International Ltd. Arguably one of the most iconic brands across the globe, this is a huge partnership for McLaren and one that will affect consumers in the future!

“It’s great to be able to welcome back Gulf after a long historical association which has seen the name adorn many McLaren road cars and race cars over the years. McLaren has a rich history of working with class-leading partners and we’re delighted to continue this trend via our renewed partnership with Gulf. Like McLaren, the Gulf name is synonymous around the world with technical excellence and innovation and the excitement of going racing and motoring. Every supercar will have Gulf fuel and lubricants when it leaves the McLaren Production Centre and I know our customers will be thrilled to be able to work with our in-house bespoke team on the option of being one of the few to be able to personalize their McLaren supercar in the iconic Gulf livery.”

– Mike Flewitt, Chief Executive Officer, McLaren Automotive

What does this partnership mean for me?

These two brands first partnered in 1968 through 1973, focused entirely on motorsports. The partnership won more than 40 races together during those few years, which led to them reuniting throughout the ‘90s at the Le Mans 24 Hours series, in which the McLaren F1 GTR wore Gulf colors at several races. Now, the two renowned organizations will reunite once more, not just for motorsports but for road vehicles as well. What does the partnership mean for you, the consumer? Every vehicle leaving the McLaren Production Centre will be filled with Gulf Oil and high-performance fuel.

Additionally, a select few number of customers will be able to add Gulf liveries and colors to their McLaren supercar. These unique options will be hand-painted by McLaren Special Operations and will pay homage to the iconic LeMans vehicle that represents the most previous partnership between the two brands. Feel free to give us a call with any questions you might have about this!
