McLaren is not one to fear the unknown, nor the unique challenges that probing the depths of mystery necessarily entail. In fact, our favorite automaker seems to leap at such opportunities. Some of the brand’s most amazing creations have emerged from venturing into untrodden realms and transmuting the energy found therein into tangible machines.
The 2021 McLaren 765LT falls firmly into this prodigious category. Weighing less than 3,000 pounds and pumping out a grand total of 754 horsepower via its twin-turbo V-8, the 765LT is all about maximum engagement, searing performance, and sensational handling.
Though this model is a new creation, it has ties to the past: the LT in the name stands for “Longtail,” a moniker which holds a prestigious place in the McLaren legacy. Every vehicle that’s carried the name Longtail has been unique, extreme, and utterly focused around the driver; we’re happy to report that the 2021 765LT firmly lives up to that storied tradition.
To craft the 2021 765LT, McLaren took the already incredible 2021 720S and made it lighter, longer and intentionally more hardcore; in short, they gave it the Longtail treatment. Like the 720S, this model is eminently customizable. Unlike the 720S, only 765 of these models will ever be produced.
In their tireless pursuit of distilled driving purity, the McLaren engineers have used innovative aerodynamics to create 25% more downforce on the 765LT than the 720S. Bespoke carbon fiber body panels shape an elongated profile, brilliantly complementing the lowered suspension and widened front track.
Inside the 2021 McLaren 765LT, users will find a continuation of the determined emphasis on this single-minded goal. Sculpted carbon fiber abounds, along with Lightweight Alcantara®. Users will be seated in the same seats that are utilized in the McLaren P1™.
The 2021 McLaren 765LT utilizes a twin-turbocharged V8 engine that churns out no less than 765PS and 800Nm of torque. With a build composed of Formula 1 grade materials, this machine is totally focused on maximizing its incredible capability. Along with that engine and design, the Longtail accomplishes this goal thanks to its obsessive lightness.
